Lazio’s Brazilian midfielder Ederson will be out of action for six months with a thigh injury, the club announced late on Tuesday.
Ederson, 28, who has ruptured tendons in his right thigh, will undergo an operation in the French city of Lyon next week.
He will be treated at the same clinic where he underwent a similar operation on his left thigh four years ago while playing for Lyon.
That injury kept him out for seven months.
He joined Lazio in July 2012 and spent most of last season on the substitutes’ bench, but had begun to establish himself as a first team regular this season before the injury.
